This Year’s Themed Auctions

At Bruun Rasmussen, we’ve really found our feet at our fabulous new auction house in Lyngby. We’re heading towards brighter times and are looking forward to really giving art the space it deserves in the auction house. In 2024, we will be focusing on a series of large-scale Themed Auctions, which we will be holding in collaboration with Bonhams’ global network of auction houses.

We started 2024 in earnest with the year’s first Live Auction with the theme “Pioneering Women Artists”. We’re Skagen-bound at the next Live Auction in June, with the theme “Northern Light – The Artists’ Colony at Skagen”. In September, it’s “The Force of Nature”, which focuses on Georg Jensen and Axel Salto. This year’s last Live Auctions include the two themes “Danish Golden Age Art” and “CoBrA – Strong Voices in Post-War Europe”.

The self-portrait from 1826 by the Golden Age artist Wilhelm Bendz sold for DKK 1.4 million at the Live Auction in 2024.

Corneille’s painting “Mon canal chante” from 1949 sold at last year’s themed “CoBrA – Strong Voices in Post-War Europe” Auction for a hammer price of DKK 2.5 million.

Axel Salto’s stoneware sculpture “Den Tingene iboende Kraft” (The Inherent Power of Things) went for a hammer price of DKK 2.1 million at our Live Auction in March 2024.
